Description
Yarrow is a stoloniferous herbaceous perennial plant belonging to the Asteracee family. The yarrow species have hairy leaves, the flowers are pennate and disposed in a small cluster of flowers.
It flowers in the months of June-July being commonly white or pink and can be commonly found in the spontaneous flora in Romania, and can be collected from grass lands, the sides of the roads, meadows, greenfields or the edge of forests on plains up to the mountain area of the country.
Use
The flowers or the entire plant are used for dermatological, cosmetic and curative purposes. The clusters of flowers are harvested when they are in full bloom. The active ingredients are extracted under the form of tea, decoction, fresh juice or hydroalcoholic or oil extract. It is used internally or topically.
Internal use has the main effect of regulating the functioning of the female reproductive organs, having beneficial effects in any condition affecting this area.
Topical use has calming, anti-inflammatory, healing, anti-haemorrhagic, astringent, antiperspirant and disinfecting effects, regenerating tissues at the same time.
