Description
Heartsease is an annual herbaceous plant, indigenous to Europe, growing in all the seasons, in the spontaneously flora, especially in the hills, up to the subalpine area or in systematic crops.
A small plant growing on the stem goes up to 15 cm in height, with flowers with a diameter of around 1.5 m. It grows on meadows and in deserted areas, especially on acid or neutral soil. Usually, it grows in partially shaded areas and flowers from April up to September.
Use
In dermatology and cosmetics, the aerial part (Herba Violae tricoloris) of the plant is used, it is harvested for its roots, during flowering phase.
It is used under the form of juice, from the fresh plant, as tea, decoction, syrup or extract, for the anti-inflammatory, antalgic actions, etc.
